10 National Service Scheme Volunteers to Represent Andhra Pradesh in Republic Day Parade

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh National Service Scheme (NSS) officer Dr. P. Ashok Reddy announced that 10 of their volunteers will be participating in the 75th Republic Day Parade on the Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Friday. They will be joining various contingents, including those of the armed forces.

He identified the volunteers as Sayyed Hina, Kedrasri, Rajani, Anitha, Chandana, Yamini, Kalyani, Geethika, Joshitha, and Harshini. Dr. K. Swathi, NSS programme officer of Sri Padmavathi Mahila University, Tirupati, will guide them during the parade.

These 10 volunteers were selected after a one-month NSS Republic Day Parade camp in New Delhi. Dr. Ashok Reddy highlighted that NSS provides an excellent opportunity for students to serve as volunteers in various national and state-level programs, including the Republic Day Parade. This year, as per the Government of India’s directive, only female volunteers are participating in the parade.

The NSS officer also mentioned that all the volunteers had participated in cultural programs at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s house on the theme “Nari Shakti, Jhansi Lakshmibai” on Wednesday. Following the Republic Parade Day, the volunteers will meet with the President of India, vice president, ministers, and officials, before returning to their hometowns on February 1, 2024.
