The new mobile layout, which was rolled out on December 5, 2023, is meant to make Discord more mobile-friendly to accommodate its added features and compete with other mobile-first messaging apps. However, many users are unhappy with the update, expressing confusion and difficulty with navigating the new UI, as well as reporting bugs. Some have even gone as far as canceling their Discord Nitro subscription in response to the changes.
