Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper partake in libations on the 2024 CNN New Year’s Eve broadcast

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper celebrated the end of the previous year’s alcohol ban while co-hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live special. The pair returned to New York City’s Times Square on December 31 to countdown to the new year. At the start of the broadcast, Cohen revealed that they would once again be drinking throughout the show. Cooper, however, was reluctant and asked if Cohen was alluding to alcohol. Cohen replied that he was wondering if “daddy” could get his juice, to which Cooper questioned if he could do so responsibly. Cohen then teased that he came prepared with his own bottle of tequila. The fun and casual drinking during the show has been a tradition for the dynamic duo, which viewers find entertaining.

Unfortunately, the two were not allowed to consume alcohol during the 2022-2023 broadcast due to controversial comments Cohen made the year before while inebriated. He expressed regret for his statements and the two put rumors of a feud to rest. Fans were disappointed by the ban and Cohen even pleaded with the network to allow them to drink again for the 2023-2024 show.

Cohen and Cooper’s close friendship has been well-documented, and it is clear that the two have a strong bond both on and off screen. Cohen also mentioned his pocket full of edibles and expressed his hopes that CNN would allow them to consume alcohol again as the new year’s eve special is a long night.
