Five people, including a newlywed couple, killed in a road accident in Nandyal

Tragedy struck when a family of five returning from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, was involved in a fatal accident in Allagadla of Nandyal during the early hours of Wednesday, March 6, 2024. The car they were traveling in collided with a parked lorry at approximately 5:15 a.m.

According to the police, the young newly-wed couple, Bala Kiran, 25, and Kavya Sri, also 25, were on their way back from the pilgrimage with their family when the accident occurred.

In addition to Kiran and Kavya, Kiran’s parents, Mantri Ravinder, 55, and Lakshmi, 50, as well as the driver, Ashok, 21, tragically lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, as confirmed by the Allagadla rural police.

The accident took place approximately 350 km from their home in Venkatapuram, Alwal.

Reports suggest that Ashok, in an attempt to overtake another vehicle, collided with the stationary lorry at a high speed, resulting in the fatal outcome for all occupants of the car.

A case has been registered under section 304-A (death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, and the bodies have been taken for post-mortem examination.
