Adilabad children petition Chief Justice regarding park encroachment – Legal Briefs


HYDERABAD: A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court has directed the impleading of Hari Hara Dharma Kshethra Ayyappa Alaya committee, Adilabad, in a public interest litigation (PIL). This decision was made by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Anil Kumar, in response to a letter sent by 23 children to the Chief Justice as a PIL. The children alleged illegal encroachments and constructions in the children’s park at the old housing board colony in Adilabad. The land, which was encroached by miscreants and the land mafia, had a temple constructed on it. The bench combined the PIL and a writ petition filed by the temple committee, which had obtained a status quo order against the municipal authorities of Adilabad. The temple committee has been directed to submit material papers and the case has been adjourned to April 1.

Malla Reddy medical college moves court for affiliation certificate

Justice S. Nanda of the Telangana High Court has directed the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences to consider the representation of Mallareddy Medical College for Women for an affiliation certificate and permission to increase the number of seats. The college had filed a writ petition challenging the university’s refusal to issue an affiliation consent and to increase MD/MS seats. The petitioner argued that the university’s requirement to obtain an essentiality certificate for approving the augmentation of seats was against the Medical Council of India notification. The judge instructed the university to review the college’s representation without considering the essentiality certificate.

HC pulls up Karimnagar civic body

Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court criticized the authorities for not executing speaking orders that justify the demolition of illegal structures. This was in reference to a writ petition filed by Syed Afzaluddin Ahmed against the inaction of the Karimnagar municipal corporation following a speaking order. The judge directed the authorities to enforce the speaking order promptly.

DB to hear on 917 acres of temple lands

Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar has referred a writ petition challenging notices issued by Sri Ramachandra Swamy Vari Devasthanam, Bhadrachalam, to a two-judge bench. Degala Prasad and 29 others filed the petition, claiming ownership of 917 acres in Pushupapatnam village and disputing the temple’s claim to the land. They argued that the land was part of present-day Andhra Pradesh and had been inherited and alienated long before. The case has been directed to be heard by a division bench due to the interstate nature of the dispute.
