Google Chrome on mobile introduces new search tools, customized shortcuts, and additional features

Google is improving the mobile search experience for Chrome on Android and iOS with new features. These include expanded Chrome Actions for local businesses and personalized address bar shortcuts. The tablet address bar is also being redesigned, and trending search suggestions are being expanded to iOS.

Google has announced several new features for its Chrome browser on Android and iOS, aimed at making mobile browsing more efficient and user-friendly. These updates are part of the M126 rollout and include enhancements in search, navigation, and personalized content delivery.

One major update is the introduction of new Chrome Actions, which allow users to interact directly with local businesses from search results. For example, a search for a restaurant might provide quick buttons to call, get directions, or read reviews. This feature is currently available on Chrome for Android and will come to iOS in the fall.

Chrome on iPads and Android tablets is getting a revamped address bar design that showcases the website below the drop-down, making it easier to navigate back to the site being viewed.

A new shortcut suggestions feature has been added to Chrome on both Android and iOS, offering personalized shortcuts based on browsing habits. For example, a frequently typed phrase like “schedules” could prompt a shortcut to the City Metro website.

Trending search suggestions, previously available on Android, are now extended to Chrome on iOS. These suggestions appear below the address bar when a new tab is opened.

Live sports cards are now integrated into Chrome’s Discover Feed for iOS and Android, providing real-time updates on game scores for followed teams or leagues.
