Will Ferrell Encounters the Football Team

Will Ferrell recently visited Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham football club in Wales and injected some humor into the experience. In an episode of Welcome to Wrexham season 2, Ferrell asked the football players if they really liked Reynolds and McElhenney, jokingly calling the Deadpool star a “dodgy Canadian.” During a stadium tour, Ferrell also referred to the players as “famous” and playfully commented on one player’s “beefy thigh,” offering his magical hands for a rub down. The episode showcased Wrexham’s journey to secure a promotion to the English Football League, winning seven out of nine matches in a month. Spoiler alert, they eventually achieved their promotion after 15 years. The addition of goalkeeper Ben Foster, who came out of retirement, played a crucial role. Despite criticisms from fans claiming it was for financial gain, Foster made it clear that his intention was to help the team progress. Wrexham beat York City 3-0 in Foster’s first game. New episodes of Welcome to Wrexham premiere on FX on Tuesdays.
