MUMBAI: BJP leader and Union minister Narayan Rane’s elder son Nilesh Rane, announced his withdrawal from active politics on Tuesday. “I am stepping aw-ay from active politics. Politics no longer interests me. There is no other reason,” Rane said in a post on X.
Rane, who was member of Lok Sabha representing Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg con-stituency from 2009 to 2014, thanked his supporters for the last 19-20 years and for staying with him selflessly.
He further said he had received a lot of love in the BJP and was fortunate to have had an opportunity to work with the party. “I am a small man but I got to learn a lot in politics and some relationships with colleagues have endured and have become family,” Rane said. His brother, Nitesh, is MLA from Kankavli constituency.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has acknowledged the shortage of ambulances in Goa, leading to delays in emergency care for road accident victims. Currently, the state has 56 ambulances, but an additional 25 are needed to meet the demand. Efforts are being made to procure new Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances, including through corporate social responsibility initiatives. Rane also highlighted the need for outsourcing certain services to improve the functioning of the South Goa District Hospital, including activating the intensive care unit and making the cath lab operational.
