Aam Aadmi Party legal head Sanjeev Nasiar stated that the party maintains the position that the ED’s summons are illegal and that it is the court’s responsibility to make a decision on the matter. “The court had summoned CM (Arvind Kejriwal).
Following a bail granted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by a court in New Delhi on Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party legal head Sanjeev Nasiar reiterated that the party considers ED’s summons to be illegal and believes the court should make a ruling on the matter. “The court had summoned CM (Arvind Kejriwal).
He appeared today and submitted the bail bond. The bail was granted,” he explained. The Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to Kejriwal in both of the complaints from the Enforcement Directorate.
“Our stance on the ED summons is clear – we believe they are not in accordance with the law and are therefore illegal. We trust the court to make a fair decision. Whatever the court decides, we will abide by it,” added Sanjeev Nasiar. Delhi Government advisor Reena Gupta denounced the case as “baseless” and labeled it as “political vendetta.”
Reena Gupta stated to ANI, “Thousands of people were interrogated; raids were conducted at various places but no evidence has been found. Today, the big issue facing the country is that of electoral bonds. How has the BJP used ED and CBI? Now more ED cases will be registered to divert the country’s attention from electoral bonds. CM has always asked the ED that you tell me why I am being summoned but they never replied.
Following a summons issued to him by the court based on two ED complaints in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Divya Malhotra granted bail to the Delhi CM. Kejriwal appeared in court and was granted bail on a bail bond of Rs 15,000 and a surety of Rs 1 lakh.
The Rouse Avenue Court on Friday reserved an order on the stay of summons issued to Kejriwal on complaints filed by the ED. Kejriwal had challenged the summons issued by the court after taking cognizance of two complaints filed by the ED for avoidance of the summons issued to him.
