TL;DR Android 15 Beta 2 now has a feature that automatically syncs your Android profile picture with your Google Account photo. This is made possible by the new Google Pixel Avatar App, which stores your Android profile picture and makes it accessible to select system apps. The latest Android 15 update, set to be released later this year, will bring a host of new features including a Private Space for apps, app pairs, a predictive back gesture, and more. The update will also include various minor improvements that are still being discovered. One new addition in the second beta of Android 15 is the Google Pixel Avatar App, which adds the ability to use your Google Account picture as your profile picture.
Last week, Google launched Android 15 Beta 2 for compatible Pixel devices, which includes every Tensor-powered Pixel. After updating, users noticed the presence of the new Google Pixel Avatar App. This app is essentially an unbundled version of the existing avatar picker found in Settings. It allows users to take a photo or choose an image from their gallery to use as their profile picture. The new feature in the app is the ability to use your current Google Account picture as your profile picture, ensuring consistency across different screens.
In the past, changing your Google profile picture did not automatically update your Android profile picture in all instances. This led to discrepancies in where your profile picture was displayed. However, with Android 15 Beta 2, the Google Pixel Avatar App now syncs your Android profile picture with your Google Account picture. Third-party apps can also request permission to access the user’s profile picture, although access is restricted to selected apps for privacy reasons.
