BJP vehemently opposes CM’s decision, expresses concern over its impact on ‘secular principles’

Siddaramaiah announced on Friday that he has instructed the removal of the ban, stating that the choice of clothing and food is a personal matter.

The BJP strongly criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s decision to revoke the ban on wearing hijabs in classrooms, expressing concerns about the “secular nature” of educational environments.

Siddaramaiah reiterated on Friday that he has ordered the ban to be lifted, emphasizing that the choice of clothing and food is personal.

BJP state president B Y Vijayendra, in a post on X, stated that the government is creating divisions among young minds based on religious grounds.

“CM Siddaramaiah’s decision to lift the Hijab ban in educational institutions raises concerns about the secular nature of our educational spaces,” the Shikaripura MLA said.

“By permitting religious attire in educational institutions, the Siddaramaiah government is encouraging the division of young minds along religious lines, potentially disrupting the inclusive learning environment,” he said.

The BJP state chief emphasized the importance of prioritizing education over divisive practices and cultivating an environment where students can concentrate on academics without the influence of religious practices.
