The Enforcement Directorate claims that Mahadev betting app promoters have allegedly paid approximately Rs 508 crore to Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, based on a forensic analysis and a statement from a “cash courier.” These allegations are currently under investigation.
The Congress party alleges that the claims made by the Enforcement Directorate are part of a conspiracy by the BJP to tarnish the image of Chhattisgarh’s chief minister. The Congress plans to raise the issue with the Election Commission, considering it a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh states that the BJP is misusing central agencies like the ED and the CBI, as they anticipate their defeat in the upcoming Assembly polls in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Congress leader K C Venugopal supports this view and believes that people will respond to the BJP’s actions in the polls.
The ED alleges that Mahadev betting app promoters have already paid around Rs 508 crore to Baghel, and this matter is under investigation. The BJP accuses the Congress of using “hawala” money from illegal betting operators to fund its campaign in Chhattisgarh and specifically targets Baghel for allegedly receiving kickbacks worth over Rs 500 crore.
