The Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) convened a meeting on Wednesday lasting over three hours to finalise the selection of candidates for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. It was reported that approximately 45 candidates were given clearance during this meeting.
The CEC is set to reconvene on Thursday to discuss the remaining names and unveil the final list. In a separate meeting on Wednesday, the Telangana Congress Screening Committee gathered at the residence of AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal to address seats where tough competition is expected and to consider incorporating key leaders from other parties.
Following the CEC meeting, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge took to ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) to proclaim that Telangana is poised for change, with the Congress party ready to be elected in the state.
“BRS leaders are expressing their deep frustration by incessantly attacking the Congress party, as they foresee an impending defeat. BRS, BJP, AMIM – all partners in crime – know what the future holds. Aside from deceit, corruption, and briberies, they have nothing to offer the people of Telangana! The Congress’ steadfast commitment to Telangana, combined with the immense affection we share with the people of the state, will lead to justice, welfare, and progress,” he asserted.
