John and Melody Hennessee are planning to retire and spend the rest of their lives cruising around the world. They saw an advertisement for a 274-day cruise with Royal Caribbean and made the decision to sell their possessions and become permanent residents on a residential cruise ship. Currently, they are hopping from ship to ship and have plans booked until December 2024. They will soon be residing on Villa Vie’s residential cruise ship, where 30% of the population will be permanent residents. The ship is being constructed and a cabin there will cost $99,000. They are excited to design it and plan to live on the ship for a minimum of 15 years.
Villa Vie’s ship, the Odyssey, will begin service in May 2024. Founder Mikael Petterson is excited to create the ultimate world cruise experience where the ship doesn’t stop and continues to sail. Melody and John are looking forward to living on the ship and enjoy their time as water people. They keep themselves active on the ship and are able to invite friends and family to visit them on the ship. With the ship’s itinerary planned years in advance, they are not worried about getting bored.
