Exploring the Exciting New Features of Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1

Today, Google unexpectedly released Android 14 QPR2 beta 1, which includes features that will be part of the March 2024 feature drop for Pixel smartphones. This release marks the closure of the beta program for QPR1, with the official launch expected in December.

In recent weeks, we have been covering the beta releases for Android 14 QPR1, which will introduce new features in the December 2023 Pixel feature drop. However, Google has now launched the Android 14 QPR2 beta 1, which will be part of the March 2024 feature drop. The closure of the beta program for QPR1 means that the features seen in that program will be included in the December Pixel feature drop.

In addition to the Pixel smartphones, these features will also be sent to the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) and will eventually be available in stock Android as well as Android skins like Samsung’s One UI, although some features might be exclusive to Pixels initially.

The Android 14 QPR2 beta 1 comes with several new features and fixes. Some of the key features include an up-to-date revamp for Pixel devices, the ability to record a single app using the built-in screen recorder, the option to cast a single app to another display, and updates to the taskbar on large displays. Additionally, the release includes fixes for issues related to app installation, submitting feedback, and connecting to a 5G network.
