While we eagerly await the release of the iPhone 16 later this year, discussions about the iPhone 17 have already started circulating. It may seem premature, but with the fast-moving rumor mill, it’s interesting to speculate on what the future holds for Apple’s flagship device.
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 series will introduce a new ultra-thin model called the iPhone 17 Slim, set to debut in 2025. This model is rumored to have a 6.6-inch display and may feature a smaller Face ID sensor among other changes. The Slim model is expected to replace the Plus model, offering a sleek new design and possibly new features that set it apart from previous iterations.
While the Slim model is an exciting prospect, I personally hope for a more significant design overhaul across all models. It would be great to see Apple revamp its entire lineup with slim, redesigned Pro models and a standard iPhone 17 with a more traditional design. Unfortunately, rumors indicate that the Slim model may be a standalone offering rather than a design shift that extends to other sizes.
In addition to the Slim model, there are rumors about a new smaller iPhone variant, possibly the iPhone 17 Mini. This could cater to users who prefer smaller displays and provide a more budget-friendly option compared to the Pro series. It remains to be seen if Apple will introduce this variant alongside the Slim model.
One of my biggest wishes for the iPhone 17 is improved display refresh rates. With many flagship phones now offering 120Hz refresh rates, it’s time for Apple to catch up and provide a smoother experience across all models. Additionally, I hope to see better SoC consistency across all models, with the latest processor being standard across the lineup.
While the iPhone 17 is still a few years away, it’s exciting to speculate on what Apple may have in store for its flagship device. With the Slim model and potentially a Mini variant on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how Apple continues to innovate and improve its iPhone lineup.
