A Filipino nurse describes his response to a traumatic stabbing incident and his concern for anti-immigrant violence. Leo Villamayor, a nurse in various Dublin hospitals, encountered the attack while walking to a graduation ceremony at the Gresham hotel. As he saw children being attacked, he provided immediate first aid, including CPR, to a young girl who had collapsed. Mr. Villamayor expressed the unfairness of violence toward innocent children and the hope for their future. He also expressed his concern over the subsequent anti-immigrant violence in Dublin, where he fears being recognized and has limited his outings. Despite the trauma, he retains an optimistic outlook about Ireland’s inclusivity and the importance of understanding and helping one another.
