Former rapper ‘Izo’ transforms into Haiti warlord, challenging ‘Barbecue’ for dominance of world’s most perilous city alongside fearsome ‘5 Seconds’ gang

IZO Vilaj de Dye is a 26-year-old with a reputation as a , , and a gangster on the side who is aiming to challenge warlord “Barbecue” for control of the world’s most dangerous city. He has been linked to a series of kidnappings in Haiti and is rumored to wield more power than the infamous Jimmy ‘Barbecue’ Chérizier.

Despite his young age, Izo has been gaining influence in Haiti through his involvement in the music industry and his leadership of the violent gang Baz 5 Segond. His criminal activities reportedly include rape, abduction, drug and gun trafficking, as well as obstructing humanitarian assistance.

Inspired by artists like Kendrick Lamar and French Montana, Izo released his debut single in November 2021, just after a group of foreign missionaries were kidnapped by a rival gang. He has been able to exploit the fragile security environment in Haiti to profit from cocaine trafficking and expand his territorial control outside the city of Port-au-Prince.

In contrast to Barbecue, who is known for his openness with the media, Izo utilizes social media to promote his music rather than express his political views. Despite this, he has been able to establish a network for drug trafficking and arms smuggling that poses a significant challenge to law enforcement efforts.

As the battle for control of Port-au-Prince intensifies, Izo Vilaj de Dye represents a new and dangerous force in the ongoing struggle for power in the most perilous city on Earth.
