Has the Microsoft Surface Duo 3 been canceled? Rumors suggest so.

David Imel from Android Authority discussed the unique features of the Microsoft Surface Duo 2, which utilized two pivoting screens instead of the conventional flexible panel found in most foldable phones. As the device approaches its third year in the market, it is becoming a bit outdated, prompting anticipation for a potential sequel, the Microsoft Surface Duo 3.

In terms of upgrades, Imel hopes to see a newer flagship processor incorporated into the new device, even if it means opting for a slightly older chipset to offer a more competitive pricing compared to current foldable phone options. He also suggests moving towards a single folding inner display to maximize screen real estate and improve practicality for one-handed use. Additionally, Imel emphasizes the importance of competitive pricing, a clear software update roadmap, and the revival of Lumia-inspired colorways to differentiate the Surface Duo series in the market.

However, the fate of the Microsoft Surface Duo 3 remains uncertain, with reports suggesting that the device may have been scrapped. With no official confirmation or release date in sight, Imel advises against waiting for the hypothetical device and recommends exploring alternative options such as the Surface Duo 2 or other traditional foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, OnePlus Open, or Google Pixel Fold.
