HD Kumaraswamy draws parallels between Congress and a buffalo

Bengaluru: The attitude of the Congress party has caused allies of India National Development Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) to abandon it, with many allies leaving the alliance one after the other, as observed by State Janata Dal Secular (JDS) president and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in light of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar returning to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Accusing the Congress party of ruining the chances of its alliance partners, he likened the Congress party to a buffalo that stirs up mud in a pond, making the water dirty and unfit for others to quench their thirst.

Kumaraswamy accused the Congress party leaders of the present generation to be similar to the erstwhile East India Company of the Britishers and pointed out that it was Nitish Kumar who gathered allies against BJP and now he has rejoined the NDA.

He described JDS as “foolish” for continuing its alliance with the Congress party in 2018, and praised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for severing ties with the Congress party. He also mentioned a missed opportunity to become Chief Minister by aligning with the Prime Minister and not aligning with the Congress party in 2018.

“Had I listened to Modi then I would have been the Chief Minister and continued as Chief Minister to the present day,” stated Kumaraswamy and told Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that “You would not have been in the picture today.”

Kumaraswamy said Aam Aadmi Party and Samajwadi Party have gone their separate ways and accused the Congress party of asking for Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh from Samajwadi Party, with the latter offering just 11 seats for the Congress party to contest in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls out of 80 in Uttar Pradesh.

Regarding wearing a saffron shawl in a protest in Mandya, Kumaraswamy defended himself by referring to the saffron color in the tricolor and questioned the Congress leaders, “Why are you so narrow-minded about wearing a saffron shawl?”
