Husband murders wife for refusing to make him the nominee in records

The couple tied the knot via a social media platform in 2020. According to police sources, the suspect is said to be a real estate agent.

A female sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) stationed in Shahpura, Dindori district, Madhya Pradesh was allegedly killed by her spouse for refusing to name him as the beneficiary in her service, insurance, and bank documents, a senior police officer revealed on Monday.

SDM Nisha Napit (51) had married Manish Sharma (45) through a social media platform in 2020. His request to be named as the beneficiary in her service, insurance, and bank records led to discord as the deceased did not comply, Superintendent of Police, Akhil Patel, informed the press. Sharma reportedly suffocated her with a pillow on Sunday, sat beside the body for six hours, and then took the body to the nearby community health centre. However, alert doctors at the centre informed the police, the SP stated. Sharma had also allegedly laundered her blood-stained clothes and the pillow in the washing machine, Patel added.

“After conducting an investigation and gathering evidence from the scene, we questioned Sharma and subsequently arrested him. He has been charged with murder, dowry-related death, destroying evidence, and other offenses,” he stated.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mukesh Shrivastava praised the investigative team for solving the case within 24 hours and announced a reward of Rs 20,000, he added. Police sources said the accused is reportedly a property dealer.
