Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert are going through a divorce. Teyana secretly filed for divorce almost a year ago and claims that Iman has been a jealous narcissist throughout their 7-year marriage.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Teyana filed for divorce in January, more than 8 months before they announced their separation. In the documents, Teyana details the reasons for their marriage falling apart, accusing Iman of being jealous of her fame and feeling insecure about not being good enough for her.
Teyana claims that Iman would get annoyed at public events when photographers would ask him to step out of the frame. She says that Iman remained aggravated by her notoriety, jealous of her acting career, and insecure about being her partner, even though he was earning more than her through basketball.
Sources with direct knowledge also tell TMZ that Teyana initially wanted to keep the divorce private, filing with their initials, but Iman’s recent filing included their full names, bringing everything public.
Teyana alleges that Iman has been emotionally and mentally abusive and displayed extreme narcissistic behavior throughout their marriage. She says she tried to keep their family together despite these behaviors.
She also claims that Iman was involved in multiple cheating scandals during their marriage and cites his DUI arrest and a weed possession arrest in an airport. Teyana also alleges that Iman once crashed her Rolls Royce and fled the scene to avoid a second DUI arrest.
Teyana says she’s asking for temporary and permanent primary physical custody, as well as joint legal custody and child support for their two children, as Iman left their family home in October and hasn’t spent significant time with their kids since then.
Teyana announced their separation in September and clarified that “infidelity” wasn’t the reason for their breakup, but she now says she was just being graceful towards him.
Finally, Teyana says their marriage is “irretrievably broken” and is proceeding with the divorce.
