Indra Sena Reddy Nallu was sworn in as the 20th Governor of Tripura at Raj Bhawan on Thursday morning. The Telangana politician replaced 84-year-old Satyadeo Narain Arya, who served as the Governor in the Northeastern state since 2021.
Nallu was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court Aparesh Kumar Singh.
Speaking to reporters after the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Nallu said, “I wish to thank the President of India for reposing the responsibility of Tripura Governor on me. I will see to the best of my ability that the development of Tripura is done”.
Nallu added, “I want to bring transparency and empowerment and accountability. With the local government, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, with his cooperation I will see to it that the development of Tripura and people here can be best done”.
He said he would later meet the media to interact on different issues.
The Governor received a Guard of Honour at the Raj Bhawan premises after he was sworn in.
Governor Nallu was elected as a legislator thrice in 1983, 1985, and in 1999. He also served as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president of undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2003 and was appointed the party’s national general secretary in 2014.

Tripura CM Saha attended the swearing-in ceremony along with his cabinet colleagues. Saha had accorded a warm reception to the Governor at Raj Bhawan last evening when the latter arrived in the state.
Opposition party leaders, including CPIM general secretary and MLA Jitendra Chaudhury, were seen in attendance at the swearing-in ceremony along with ruling BJP legislators and party leaders.
Advocate General Siddartha Shankar Dey, judges of the Tripura High Court and officials of the state administration were also present at the ceremony.
