Introducing ChatGPT’s new Memory and Temporary Chat features, now available for use

ChatGPT has been a boon for many people, simplifying their lives in ways previous non-AI digital assistants couldn’t. Once you learn to use ChatGPT effectively, it becomes an invaluable tool. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, recently introduced memory functions to ChatGPT, now available to all ChatGPT Plus users. Free users now have access to temporary chat features that don’t store conversations in history.

OpenAI states that ChatGPT’s Memory function is user-friendly. Simply activate it in settings, then inform ChatGPT of anything you want it to remember. Subsequent responses will retain these facts, saving you from repeating yourself.

Additionally, ChatGPT now notifies you when memories are updated. You can access and manage your memories to maintain control at all times.

The Memory function is helpful for making ChatGPT work smarter, especially for repetitive tasks. Pre-feeding personal facts can save you from lengthy prompts. Even without inputting your personality, results will be personalized as ChatGPT remembers the details you wish to store.

It’s important to note that the Memory feature is not yet available in Europe and Korea. OpenAI also confirms that Team, Enterprise, and GPTs will receive this feature soon. While the Memory feature was tested with a small group of free users, it appears to be rolling out to paid users only for now.

Both ChatGPT Free and ChatGPT Plus users have access to data controls. Regardless of opting into model improvement training, users can view chat history instantly on the web and soon on mobile as well.

Furthermore, users can initiate a Temporary Chat for one-time conversations that won’t be saved in the history and will be forgotten upon chat exit.
