Is this our inaugural glimpse into the Google Pixel 9a in the real world, or is there more to it?

Real-world images of what appears to be the Google Pixel 9a have surfaced online. These images were found on a Vietnamese tech forum and show a prototype device. However, there is skepticism about whether this is truly the Pixel 9a, as Google is not expected to launch it until mid-2025, if at all.

A tipster named ShrimpApplePro shared the images, claiming they were obtained from a Facebook post. The leaker mentioned that the device would be available in four colors and released before the end of the year. The altered rear logo suggests it is a prototype unit, often used by manufacturers to prevent leaks.

While the images were found on a Vietnamese forum, the poster suggested that Google would launch the phone on August 13. However, Google unveiled the Pixel 9 flagships on that day, not the Pixel 9a. The design of the device in the images also deviates significantly from previous mid-range Pixel models.

Considering production has moved to Vietnam and the expected launch window for the Pixel 9a is in 2025, these leaks seem unusually early. Additionally, Google’s potential shift to a biennial release for the Pixel A series raises doubts about the legitimacy of this leak. It is possible that this is a canceled Pixel 9a or a prototype for an earlier release.
