Jana Kramer has released her second book, titled The Next Chapter, which discusses her experiences after her divorce from her ex-husband Mike Caussin. Despite initially planning to write a book about trust with Caussin, the couple’s separation led Kramer to write about her life after the breakup. The book touches on Caussin’s final cheating scandal, in which he allegedly threw wet laundry at Kramer during her recovery from breast augmentation surgery. This incident, along with Caussin’s admission of creating a fake email to potentially contact other women, led Kramer to realize she needed to leave the relationship. The breakup was announced in April 2021.
Kramer also revealed that during their divorce negotiations, Caussin told her he had never truly loved her, which deeply hurt her. She referred to Caussin as “My Ex” throughout the book but mentioned ex-fiancé Brantley Gilbert by name when discussing their breakup. Kramer admitted to causing issues in their relationship and expressed regret over losing a good guy like Gilbert.
Additionally, Kramer opened up about her abusive first marriage to Michael Gambino, detailing the physical abuse she endured. Gambino was later arrested and sentenced to prison for attempted murder.
The book also touches on Kramer’s relationship with Ian Schinelli, her first boyfriend after her divorce from Caussin. She referred to him as “Seth” in the book and described the initial excitement of their relationship. However, their relationship took a turn when Kramer discovered that Schinelli had lied about the reason for his divorce and had potentially cheated on his ex-wife. Schinelli denied the allegations of cheating but criticized Kramer for using their shared secrets against him. In retrospect, Kramer expressed regret for rushing into a relationship so soon after her divorce.
