Hyderabad: BRS senior leader and Khairatabad candidate D Nagendar is facing tough competition from BJP and Congress in the upcoming elections. He is having difficulty proving his worth due to his failure to address local civic issues over the past five years.
During the election campaign, voters are questioning Nagendar for not resolving the pending civic issues. Leaders have also criticized him for not working for the people in the last three years, leading to a lack of local support.

Another significant issue is the increasing ‘gundaism’ by Nagendar’s followers in the constituency, making it challenging to resolve certain issues amicably. Local group politics have dominated the addressing of pending issues for the past four years.
Nagendar’s popularity has been decreasing, especially since Congress candidate Vijaya Reddy has been actively engaging with locals and making efforts to solve their problems. People also sympathize with Vijaya Reddy, who is the daughter of noted Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy. She has maintained her father’s popularity and is giving a tough fight to Nagendar in the Assembly elections as the Congress candidate.

The BJP candidate, Ch Ramachandra Reddy, a former MLA, is also maintaining his hold and showing his political power against Nagendar. Leaders predict that the main battle will be between Vijaya Reddy and the BJP candidate this time, as the BRS candidate has been losing ground due to various political and local reasons. Nagendar used to be a strong leader in the GHMC limits before the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. However, after the formation of Telangana, he has been confined to his assembly segment and is now struggling to win the election. It will be challenging for Nagendar to revive his political fortunes in the upcoming elections.
