WARANGAL: Union tourism and culture minister G. Kishan Reddy announced that the restored Kalyana Mandapam of the historic Thousand Pillar Temple will be dedicated to devotees by the end of February.
He visited Warangal on Tuesday to inspect the almost completed restoration works at the temple. Kishan Reddy stated that the BJP-led government at the center has allocated ₹60 crore for restoring the historic Ramappa temple, which has been designated as a World Heritage site. Guest houses have been constructed and boating has been started in the Ramappa lake. A new lighting system is also being arranged at the Warangal Fort to enhance its appearance, all of which have been undertaken by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The minister also announced that the union government has approved the establishment of the Sammakka-Saralamma Tribal University in Mulugu district. Additionally, special stalls for tribal people are being set up at the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara in Medaram, Asia’s biggest tribal fair.
Earlier in the day, Kishan Reddy voiced his concern that the Congress government has not expressed interest in a CBI inquiry into corruption by BRS government during the building of the Kaleswaram project over the past 10 years. He disclosed that the central government has written to the state government regarding this matter, but the state government has not shown any interest. He also mentioned that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has requested permission from the Congress government to visit the Medigadda barrage once more to study the damage, but the state government has not granted permission.
Kishan Reddy expressed frustration that both the Congress and BRS parties seem to be using the Vigilance inquiry into the Medigadda barrage as a political ploy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He questioned the need for AICC leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to visit the barrage again after the state assembly session, pointing out that while BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao did not attend the assembly session, he made it a point to be present at his party’s meeting in Nalgonda.
Kishan Reddy concluded by stating that despite the efforts of the Congress and BRS, the people are not going to be swayed, and the BJP will form the government at the center for the third time.
