New signs of life in Gmail Workspace personalization options

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

TL;DR

  • The in-progress smart features and personalization options we spotted earlier in Workspace are now further developed.
  • Gmail is implementing a settings screen for Workspace users to adjust privacy options.
  • This feature is still in progress and requires more work before completion.

When analyzing app updates for upcoming features, encountering obstacles is common. However, after investigating Gmail development a few weeks ago, we now have progress to share.

An APK teardown can predict future features based on ongoing code development, but these features may not always make it to a public release.

We previously discovered advancements towards introducing new smart features and personalization options for Workspace users in Gmail. With the latest build (2024.08.25.668103139.Release), we’ve made some progress.

We can now access the personalization settings screen in the app that previously caused crashes. However, attempting to interact with them still leads to crashes.

Exploring these settings indicates active development, but unresolved issues suggest there’s still work to be done before completion.

Google may tweak the presentation of these controls before the update is released to users. We will continue to monitor new releases to track the progress.
