PM Modi criticizes INDIA bloc ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will be the “natural choice” of the people in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, expected to be held in April-May of the following year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized opposition parties’ attempts to form a united front against the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, stating that there is consensus among the people that the “country doesn’t need a mili-juli sarkar” and that the country “has lost 30 years” due to instability resulting from such coalitions.

In an interview with India Today, the Prime Minister reiterated that the Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to be the “natural choice” of the people in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He highlighted the negative impact of “mili-juli sarkar” on the country, citing corruption and appeasement politics as major issues. He emphasized that people, experts, opinion makers, and media agree that the country does not need such a coalition and that the BJP is the natural choice due to the lack of governance, appeasement politics, and corruption associated with previous coalition governments.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the formation of the INDIA bloc, comprising 28 opposition parties, including the Congress, to challenge the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 polls. He emphasized that the BJP is the single largest party in southern India in terms of Lok Sabha seats.

He asserted that the BJP has significant support across the country, from local bodies in Kerala to being the principal opposition in many states, and currently governing in 16 states while also being the principal opposition in eight.

The Prime Minister addressed the selection of fresh faces as Chief Ministers for three Hindi heartland states, stating that this is not a new trend for the BJP and citing his own experience as an example.

PM Modi criticized the opposition parties for “dynastic politics”, highlighting the BJP’s cadre-based approach and the ability to nurture multiple generations of leadership simultaneously.

He also discussed India’s resilience in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasized the government’s focus on job creation and efforts to combat inflation.
