Possible Future Integration of WhatsApp Calling and Notifications with Google Gemini (APK Analysis)

In the latest beta version 15.34.32.29.arm64 of the Google app, we discovered toggles for three new extensions for Gemini: WhatsApp, Notifications, and Messages. These extensions will allow Gemini to interact with these apps, such as reading and sending messages, making calls, and receiving Android system notifications. Google has been continuously improving Gemini’s functionality by adding new extensions, including ones for Google apps like Keep, Tasks, and Calendar, as well as YouTube and YouTube Music. The APK teardown reveals upcoming features, though it’s not guaranteed they will be released to the public.

The Messages extension enables users to read and reply to messages using the Google Messages app, while the WhatsApp extension allows users to send messages, make calls, and read messages through voice commands. The Notifications extension has exciting possibilities, such as summarizing notifications, categorizing them by importance, or executing tasks based on specific app notifications.

While these features are currently speculation, they showcase the potential of AI-driven interactions in smartphones. With Google continually expanding Gemini’s capabilities by adding third-party apps, it’s evident that the competition in the AI assistant market is just beginning. Keep an eye out for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 series, expected to introduce new AI features with Siri on September 9.
