Potential Consistency Improvement Coming to Google App Bottom Bar

Edgar Cervantes from Android Authority reports that Google is currently testing a new bottom bar for the in-app browser located within the Google app. This browser uses Chrome Custom Tab implementation to display external content. Google is also experimenting with a redesigned bottom bar within the Google app for consistency.

Among the changes being tested for the Google app are colorful new icon shortcuts that are currently being rolled out to beta testers. Another recent change has been discovered within the Google app, specifically relating to the browser within the app.

An APK teardown has revealed three variations of a new bottom bar for the browser in the Google app in the latest version, v15.34.32.28. These changes are being made in collaboration with the Chrome team, given that Google uses Chrome Custom Tabs to display external website content.

The new bottom bar features two main icons for adding the website to favorites and sharing it, with a third icon for insights visible in one of the variations. While this change is not yet available to users, it aims to provide consistency between the Google app and its in-app browser.
