Prime Minister Modi delivers an impassioned address in Parliament

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress during a debate in the Rajya Sabha, referencing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s comments on differences in the INDIA bloc over seat-sharing. He expressed a hope that the opposition party is able to secure 40 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Modi addressed the Congress, stating that its leader and policy have “no guarantee” and are raising questions on his policies. He also referenced Mamata Banerjee’s statement challenging the Congress’s ability to secure over 40 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Mamata Banerjee had previously criticized Congress and expressed doubts about its ability to secure 40 seats if it contested 300 across the country. Both Congress and Trinamool Congress are part of the INDIA bloc, and Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held in April-May this year.

The Prime Minister also thanked President Droupadi Murmu for her address to the joint sitting of two Houses of Parliament, in which she spoke about India’s potential, strength, and bright future.
