The BJP criticized the Rajasthan Congress government for the alleged rape of a child by a policeman, stating that while the Central government believes in “beti bachao” (save daughters), the CM Gehlot-led dispensation stands for “rapists bachao” (save rapists).
Protests erupted outside a police station in Rajasthan’s Dausa district after a four-year-old child was allegedly raped by a police officer. The sub-inspector accused of the crime was beaten up by villagers gathered outside the police station.
It is reported that on Friday afternoon, Sub-inspector Bhupendra Singh lured the girl into his room while on election duty and sexually assaulted her. The girl is currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital. Assistant Superintendent of Police Bajrang Singh confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and is under investigation.
The BJP spokesperson, Shehzad Poonawalla, cited several cases of atrocities against women and children, including those involving police and government officials, to argue that rapists have “high confidence” in the state of Rajasthan, which is headed for elections.
Poonawalla also alleged that the state government’s actions demonstrate incompetence and collusion, claiming there is a “pro-active” institutional system to protect rapists.
He also accused the government of victim-shaming and claimed that women in Rajasthan are asking if the Congress will continue to protect rapists and criminals.
Poonawalla concluded by stating that women voters in Rajasthan have decided to remove the “anti-women and anti-Dalit” government.
