Raja Singh eager to secure Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency

Hyderabad: T. Raja Singh, the three-time BJP MLA from Goshamahal, has stirred up the political landscape by expressing his willingness to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Secunderabad constituency if the party so desires.

In response to speculation about him being considered as a potential candidate for the Hyderabad constituency, Raja Singh humorously suggested that the BJP should focus on removing nearly 4 lakh bogus votes in that area first if they aim to win. He mentioned that Kishan Reddy should address this issue to improve their chances in Hyderabad.

“If the party instructs me to do so, I am ready to contest from the Secunderabad constituency,” Raja Singh stated, following his earlier brief statement on the matter.

However, the potential move to contest from Secunderabad poses a challenge as the constituency is currently represented by the state BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, who intends to run for re-election in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

While Raja Singh’s comment may not pose a significant threat to Kishan Reddy’s position, it highlights underlying tensions within the Telangana unit of the BJP since the change in leadership last year. It also coincides with a potential challenge from former Hyderabad mayor Bonthu Rammohan, who recently joined the Congress and is vying to contest from Secunderabad as their candidate.

Rammohan believes he stands a strong chance of winning due to community dynamics and the significant minority population in the constituency. He also notes that Kishan Reddy’s perceived distance from the public and the potential candidate from the BRS party could work in his favor.
