Chevella MP Ranjith Reddy has recently made the decision to resign from the BRS party and join the Congress. In his letter of resignation addressed to Chief Minister KCR, Ranjith Reddy expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Chevella.
This development is reflective of the evolving political landscape in the joint Rangareddy district, where the Congress is striving to increase its influence. In addition to Ranjith Reddy, three Zilla Parishad chairmen from the joint districts have also made the switch to Congress.

There are speculations that Congress is considering nominating Ranjith Reddy for the Chevella Parliament seat and Patnam Sunitha Reddy for the Malkajigiri Parliament seat.
