Veteran Telugu actor Chandra Mohan died in Hyderabad on Saturday following a cardiac arrest. He was 80. According to the reports, the actor was battling with age-related health issues and undergoing heart-related treatments.
Chandra Mohan is survived by his wife Jalandhara and two daughters.
“He had been ailing for quite some time due to age-related issues and he passed away at around 9:45 am at Apollo Hospitals,” a family member confirmed to Hindustan Times. The last rites will be performed on Monday in Hyderabad.
Born Mallampalli Chandrasekhar Rao on May 23, 1943, Chandra Mohan’s journey in Telugu cinema began in 1966 with his debut film Rangula Ratnam, a stepping stone to a remarkable career spanning several decades. His versatility and powerful performances in movies like Sukha Duhkalu, Padaharella Vayasu, Shankarabharanam and Chandamama Raave earned him two Filmfare awards and the prestigious Nandi award for Best Actor from the state government. He appeared in as many as 932 films.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Chandra Mohan “left a mark in the hearts of the Telugu people.”

In a social media post, Jr NTR celebrated the late actor’s significant contributions to the film industry and offered heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.

Chandra Mohan was the cousin of the late Dada Sahab Phalke award-winning director K Vishwanath, who passed away earlier this year.
