Sunrisers Eastern Cape successfully defended their SA20 title with a convincing 89-run victory against the Durban Super Giants in the summit clash at Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday.
Sunrisers notched 204/3 batting first, as half-centuries by Tristan Stubbs (56) and Tom Abell (55) helped them dominate the opening half of the game.
Super Giants never looked likely to chase down their target as they slipped to 69 for six, with tall left-arm seamer Marco Jansen claiming 5-30 as the Durban side were bowled out for 115. Quinton de Kock (3) and Heinrich Klassen failed to step up for the Durban side, with only Dwaine Pretorius (28) managing to provide some resistance with the bat for the runners-up.
Sunrisers defeated Pretoria Capitals by four wickets to win the inaugural title last season.
