Vijayapura: Two leading companies in the Wind Power and Solar Panel industries have expressed interest in setting up their units in Vijayapura district, marking a significant development in the renewable energy sector.
A meeting was held by Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil with the leadership teams of Suzlon and RSOLEC.
Patil announced that Suzlon is planning to invest Rs. 30,000 crore, while RSOLEC (Renaissance Solar and Electric Material company) has proposed an investment of Rs. 6,000 crore.
The CEO of Suzlon Group, JP Chalasani, and the CEO of Renaissance Solar and Electronic Materials Company, Milind Kulkarni, participated in the separate meetings.
Patil, who is also the in-charge minister of Vijayapura, stated that Vijayapura, along with Anantapura in Andhra Pradesh and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, has been identified as prime locations for wind power generation in the country. Suzlon aims to inaugurate a 5,000 MW unit in Vijayapura, following the success of existing wind power plants in Anantapur and Jaisalmer.
Regarding the Suzlon project, Patil mentioned that the company plans to invest Rs. 30,000 crore in phases, starting with a wind fan blades manufacturing unit. The company has requested 100 acres of land for this purpose.
RSOLEC, known for producing raw materials for solar panels, is looking to establish its unit in Vijayapura with an investment of Rs. 6,000 crore. The company has requested 100 acres of land, 80 MW of electricity, and 10 MLD of water.
Initially, RSOLEC plans to invest Rs. 2,500 crore to start a 5,000 MW capacity unit, generating 1,000 job opportunities by the end of 2025. The company aims to scale its capacity to 20,000 MW by 2030, creating over 3,000 job opportunities.
