Tension erupted at the Nagarjuna Sagar project when AP Police arrived at midnight on Wednesday. The dispute revolved around the sharing of water between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. When AP officials tried to release water from Sagar, they were blocked by Telangana officials. Consequently, a large contingent of APSP policemen was dispatched to Guntur and Palnadu districts. Approximately 700 policemen arrived at the Sagar Dam, resulting in a confrontation between the police forces of the two states. Heavy police presence was evident on both sides.
