A British tourist expressed gratitude for the pilot who died in a small plane crash in the Caribbean Sea, along with a Hollywood actor and his two daughters. Robert Sachs was piloting the four-seater Bellanca light aircraft when it crashed into the sea off the private island of Becquia in the St. Vincent and Grenadines on January 4. Stephen Bath, who had flown with Sachs in November 2021, described him as an experienced and safe pilot who had been hired by tourists for short flights over neighboring islands.
The accident claimed the lives of film star Christian Olivier and his two daughters, Madita Klepser, 10, and Annik Klepser, 13, who were heading from Bequia to St. Lucia when the crash occurred. Fishermen and divers in the area rushed to the crash site to help, while authorities launched a rescue operation.
Olivier, known for roles in films such as “Speed Racer” and television shows like “Saved by the Bell: The New Class,” had dozens of credits to his name. A GoFundMe page was set up to support his wife, Jessica, and their extended family. Jessica, in an emotional statement, remembered her daughters and husband, along with a plea for privacy during their time of grief. As of Monday, the fundraiser has raised over $162,248.
