However, the latest version of the Apple TV’s operating system, tvOS 17, brings several new improvements. Here’s everything we know about tvOS 17, from features to compatibility and more.

Apple officially announced tvOS 17 at WWDC 2023 this summer and it was released on September 18. To update to the latest version of tvOS, go to Settings > System > Software Updates > Update Software, click on Download and Install, and finally Update Now.

tvOS 17.1 beta is now available for developers
A new beta version, tvOS 17.1, is available for testing. While it’s designed for developers, the general public can sign up via the Apple Beta Software Program.

Apple is reportedly testing tvOS 17 on new hardware, including a HomePad with a display, a modified version of the iPad Mini to work with tvOS, and a future version of the screenless HomePod.
