Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), criticized Abhijit Gangopadhyay’s decision to resign as a judge of the Calcutta High Court and join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Thackeray also took a dig at Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, pointing out a conflict of interest.
Gangopadhyay, who resigned as a judge on Tuesday, joined the BJP in West Bengal on Thursday with the aim of ousting the corrupt Trinamool Congress regime in the state.
Thackeray also questioned if the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was comfortable with the BJP bringing in leaders who were once accused of corruption by the ruling party.
Speaking at a rally in Kalamb in Dharashiv district, Thackeray expressed his concerns about the integrity of the judge who joined the BJP and the decision made by Maharashtra Assembly Speaker under the influence of a Lok Sabha seat offer from the BJP.
Thackeray alleged that the BJP was trying to end the political career of former state minister Pankaja Munde.
