Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot dead in Dahisar area of Mumbai on Thursday. He was a former Shiv Sena corporator and the son of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vinod Ghosalkar. Abhishek died after he was taken to Karuna Hospital in Borivali in a serious condition, police said.
The incident was reportedly recorded live on Facebook. Abhishek Ghosalkar was doing a Facebook livestream with one Mauris Noronha. Noronha then left the livestream and shot thrice at Ghosalkar. After this, Mauris Bhai shot himself dead, police was quoted by India Today as saying.
A ‘Facebook live’ video showed Abhishek being shot in the abdomen and shoulder, PTI reported. The video had gone viral on social media.

The incident took place in the limits of MHB Colony police station in Dahisar area, an official was quoted by PTI as saying. Meanwhile, NDTV reported that Abhishek was attacked at the office of Mauris Noronha, popularly known as Mauris Bhai, where Ghosalkar had gone.

The report added that Abhishek had some personal enmity with Noronha. However, they had patched up recently. Abhishek was reportedly invited to Mauris Noronha’s office for an event.
Noronha, who was accused of shooting Abhishek Ghosalkar, was found dead. According to ANI, Noronha may have shot Ghosalkar before dying by suicide. He had reportedly streamed the incident live on Facebook. The motive of the shooting is not yet clear.
Shiv Sena leader Anand Dubey has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. “An atmosphere of ‘Jungle Raj’ is being created in the state. Firings are taking place in broad daylight. A thorough investigation should be made into the incident,” Dubey was quoted by ANI as saying.
The incident was reported days after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA was caught on camera firing at an Eknath Shinde faction leader inside a police station at Ulhasnagar, raising questions over Maharashtra’s law and order situation.
BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad was detained after he had allegedly opened fire at Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) faction leader Mahesh Gaikwad on February 3. An eyewitness had said that Mahesh Gaikwad and one of his supporters were hit by five bullets. Mahesh Gaikwad, a Sena leader, was injured and admitted to a hospital in Thane city and an FIR was filed.

As per reports, BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad and city chief Mahesh Gaikwad were having a conversation in the hall of senior inspector Anil Jagtap of Hill Line police station on Friday when supporters of BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad indulged in a clash and opened fire on Mahesh Gaikwad.
