Suzanne Somers sadly passed away at the age of 76 on October 15, 2023, following her battle with cancer. She had previously been diagnosed with both breast and skin cancer throughout the years, starting with skin cancer in her 30s and breast cancer in her 50s. Prior to her passing, Suzanne had taken a break from work to focus on her health after a recent cancer diagnosis. She had also undergone surgery for a neck injury in 2020. Despite her challenges, Suzanne remained outspoken about her beliefs on cancer treatment and advocated for a chemical-free, organic lifestyle. Her husband, Alan Hamel, revealed that she had recently battled cancer again and had been cleared in June 2023. Suzanne’s husband also shared that she had been diagnosed with hyperplasia in her 20s, which he referred to as a precursor to cancer. Suzanne had been open about her struggles with cancer, discussing alternative treatments to chemotherapy in her book Knockout. These treatments were met with criticism from some experts. Additionally, Suzanne was a proponent of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Both breast cancer and skin cancer are common forms of cancer, with breast cancer being the second most common type in women in the United States. Suzanne had been diagnosed with stage II breast cancer in 2000 and underwent lumpectomy and radiation treatment. She was later misdiagnosed with an inoperable form of cancer in 2008 but ultimately learned that the diagnosis was incorrect. In addition to her battles with cancer, Suzanne had neck surgery in 2020 following a fall. Before her passing, her husband stated that she was cancer-free, although they would continue to closely monitor her health. Suzanne expressed her gratitude for her family’s support and the love and support she received from her fans.
