What is the charging time for the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro?

Google’s recent Pixel smartphones have been well-received, but one common complaint has been slow charging speeds. It took 100 agonizing minutes to charge the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro fully, which was a drawback for last year’s models. However, Google has made improvements for the new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Using Google’s official 30W charger, the Pixel 8 charged from empty to full in 77 minutes, while the 8 Pro took 79 minutes. This is faster compared to the previous generation, shaving off over 20 minutes of charge time. Although still not as fast as the industry’s fastest charging speeds, it’s a notable improvement. The Pixel 8 also reaches the key charge milestones of 50% and 75% a few minutes faster. The Pixel 8 supports up to 27W of power, while the 8 Pro peaks at 30W. The charging cycle is more efficient, with sustained peak power levels for 15 to 20 minutes and no aggressive temperature spikes. It’s recommended to use a 30W USB PPS charger to maximize charging speed. Overall, Google has done a good job in improving the charging experience for the Pixel 8 series.
