WhatsApp is introducing new features to enhance video calls, allowing users to personalize their calls with filters and virtual backgrounds.
The newly added filters offer a variety of visual effects similar to Instagram filters, including options like Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light Leak, Dreamy, and more. WhatsApp also provides virtual backgrounds to change the backdrop and eliminate distractions.
Background options include Blur for concealing surroundings, as well as environments like an office, sunset, forest, and celebratory themes. These features provide flexibility for adjusting the visual tone of a video call in both casual and professional settings, with a total of ten filters and ten background options available.
WhatsApp is also introducing Touch Up and Low Light options to enhance video calls. Touch Up subtly improves the user’s appearance, while Low Light brightens the video in dimly lit environments.
These new features will be accessible during both one-on-one and group video calls, with users able to select effects by tapping on the effects icon. WhatsApp will roll out these features to all users in the coming weeks.
