A woman in South Korea experienced a cardiac arrest and tragically passed away immediately after plunging from a bungee jumping platform. The incident occurred on February 26. The woman, aged in her 60s, fell from a height of eight meters from the platform to a concrete floor while attempting the bungee jump at a sports facility at the Starfield Anseong Mall in Gyeonggi province.
The Gyeonggi Nambu Proncincial Police suspect that the bungee cord detached due to a faulty carabiner cable, which connects the rope to a beam or pole. The authorities are currently investigating the incident, with more details expected to be revealed soon. They are specifically looking into whether proper safety precautions were in place.
At the time of the accident, the woman was equipped with safety equipment. However, a carabiner, a type of safety hook, was not properly secured. She was rushed to a hospital where medical professionals attempted to revive her. Unfortunately, she could not be saved and was declared dead one hour after the fall.
The sports facility at the Starfield Anseong Mall in Gyeonggi province also offers various other activities, such as climbing.

Meanwhile, in December of last year, a Japanese tourist passed away after leaping from one of the tallest bungee jump platforms in the world in China. The tourist died shortly after losing consciousness. The 56-year-old made a 764-foot jump from the Macau Tower in the Municipality of Macau, which led to breathing difficulties.
In 2019, a man fell to the ground when his harness broke during a 330-foot bungee jump in Poland. The fall resulted in spinal injuries for the 39-year-old. The incident took place at a theme park in Gdynia. Disturbing video footage of the event captured the moment the man’s bungee rope snapped, sending him plummeting to the ground after he jumped from a platform.
