IDF launches airstrikes on terror targets in Syria, resulting in Iranian soldier casualties, and issues new evacuation order for Gaza residents

The death of two Iranian soldiers has been reported as the result of an Israeli attack in Syria, according to Iran’s state media. The casualties are said to be the first Iranian soldiers killed in the conflict between Israel and Hamas and are raising concerns of a full-fledged war in the Middle East. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards members Mohammmed Ali Ataei Shoorcheh and Panah Taghizadeh were killed while on a military advisory mission in Syria, according to Sepah News, the Guards’ website. The Israeli attack struck Hezbollah sites near the city of Sayyida Zeinab, resulting in the deaths of the two soldiers and injuries to five other fighters. Hezbollah’s leader has issued a warning to Israel and referred to the recent conflict as “100% Palestinian.” The potential for an all-out war in the region is causing evacuations in Gaza and is prompting Palestinian civilians to flee their homes. Israel’s retaliation against Hamas in Gaza has resulted in widespread destruction and displaced over a million people. The situation is expected to worsen after the end of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, with security concerns continuing to mount in the Middle East.
