As is the case every year, the World Economic Forum at Davos saw the usual snowfall, private jets, global networking, governments seeking investments, and countries and states showcasing their past achievements and future vision. There were also protests by non-profits and activists, and deals being made.
India was well represented, with three major pavilions focusing on women’s empowerment, Make in India, and the country’s infrastructure and success stories. Additionally, four states—Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra—showcased their economic and industrial success stories, attracting top-notch business leaders and investments.
Interestingly, China’s presence was nearly absent, while India’s growing economic prowess and potential were highlighted, along with its solutions for global problems in healthcare, AI, and sustainability.
The visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy created a political sideshow, leading to restrictions on movements for a day. Indian leaders also participated in forums and talks on farmers, agriculture, climate change, and healthcare accessibility, with Telangana’s CM Revanth Reddy urging world leaders to support farmers.
